The government has presented a plan in 1995 to protect 18 percent area of Costa Rica as national parks and the good part of this plan is that high biodiversity area has been targeted for protection. It eventually works in protecting remaining two-third rainforests / jungles in Costa Rica. These are considered most ecosystems across the globe and have truly unique habitats that live in their own microclimate. Forests in Costa Rica are largely classified into three types: topical dry forests, cloud forests and rainforests.

Cloud forests are equally a magnificent sight as of rainforests in Costa Rica. Rainforests are located in the Atlantic lowlands as well as in southwest part of this small-size country. These are covered with looping vines and towering trees that make a magical environment in the region. These dense forests are recognized as a wealth of animal life and plants, mainly because of high annual rainfall.

Rainforests in Costa Rica consist on the nearly 25% area of the country. There are 8 biological reserves and 20 national parks in Costa Rica forests. Numerous inventive programs have been initiated by the country to promote sustainable development. One of these programs works to manage nearly 13,000 hectares of jungles by introducing different management plans to landowners. Costa Rica mainly depends on the eco-tourism and earns a good part of country revenue through this medium every year. The accessible parks system and biodiversity of the rainforests are considered an ideal visiting environment.
